Coed Coch Bleddyn gave us together with Lacy Sable the grey filly Powys Sian.
When we first saw Lacy Sable she was in foal to Bleddyn, which made her all the more interesting for us, as we always liked the Coed Coch Barrog offspring.
With her dam sadly gone, Sian has taken over from her in our Stud now.

Blackhill Picalo 34102

Blackhill Picalo gave us, again with Lacy Sable Powys Shon 55974.
He won his Class at The Dutch National Stallion Grading Show as a four year old and is since very succesful as a sire and as a showpony in hand.
He has been at the Zoets family Ysselvliedt Stud in the Netherlands for a year, after that at Dr. Wynne Davies Ceulan Stud in Wales for two years and is now at the Devenney family’s Julmar Stud in Lancashire.
 We understand that in 2007 he gave them quite a successful shows eason again.
He won medals in 2005, 2006 and 2007, silver and bronze ones. He even once won a silver and a bronze medal the same weekend!
Apart from this, Blackhill Picalo has given us with Lacy Serena in 2006 the grey filly Powys Toy, that we have retained.

Lacy Justyn 35792

Lacy Justyn, by Saltersford Justin, by Gredington Simwnt, out of Morwyn Nicandra by Gredington Simwnt too,

Is our Lacy Serena’s sire. Serena is half-sister to the late Lacy Sable, same dam, and for that alone she is very valuable to us. She is a scopey good moving mare, that has already given us some nice foals, in 2006 Powys Toy by Blackhill Picalo and in 2007 Powys Telstar by Rhydyfelin Star Maker.

Pendock Legend 26739

In the year 2000 we brought Lacy Sable to Pendock Legend at his home in Suffolk to have her covered.
 The result in the next year being a very flashy, very good moving grey colt, we later sold.
Unfortunately he got very ill with his new owners and sadly never really recovered.
Quite recently however Pendock Legend entered our Stud again through his great grandson Islyn Capten, who we acquired from our good friends at the Islyn Stud in Trawsfynydd, North Wales.
 Capten is out of Rhydyfelin Silver Leaf by Lacy Brigadier, who is out of the Champion mare Idyllic Pavlova by Pendock Legend.We have high hopes for him! Lightly shown this year he already was quite successful!

Rhydyfelin Story 46916

Champion Rhydyfelin Story is by Champion Bengad Rush, out of Champion Rhydyfelin Silk.
We have always liked Story very much since we first saw him as young pony with his owner Richard Kokx , Pen Olwyn Stud, here in the Netherlands.
 Story’s pedigree is very interesting for us as well, so in 2001 we had Lacy Fleur among others covered by him. One result was the chestnut Powys Ffiona and again Story proved his value as a stockgetter.
 Ffiona is a scopey, good moving chestnut mare now. Story’s daughter, Powys Rosebud out of Bengad Rosina, is a good broodmare too and doing rather well in the showring.

Rhydyfelin Silk Rocket 55432

Rhydyfelin Silk Rocket is

Rocket is half brother to Powys Shon.
We first met Silk Rocket at the Lacy Stud when he was there at his visiting dam’s foot.
 He was a very nice cheeky foal and we liked him a lot.
So when we heard, two years later, that he would be in The Netherlands for a period, we decided to bring Lacy Sable to him.
This did not happen that time because in the end he had a Dutch Stallion license on him, which made it impossible for us to use him.
When we later had the opportunity to have him at our stud for a year, we in turn licensed him with the Society
. We had some nice foals by him and showed him with some success as well.
He did rather well in a very good and big class at the International Show in Aachen, Germany that year.
His daughter Powys Swsi is a junior brood mare at the Richards Stud now.

Gredington Calon Lan 27554

Gredington Calon Lan came into our Stud through Lacy Fleur who was in foal to him when we bought her at Colin Tibbeys Lacy Stud.
The grey colt foal that was born the next spring, Powys Jack Flash, we later sold back to Colin who sold him on to Mandy Burchell Small who broke him to ride.
 He has been shown now as a lead rein pony, done lead rein classes, show jumping, mountain and moorland classes and is awfully good at it.
In 2007 he qualified for The Horse of the Year Show and is a real versatile pony with a very nice character.
Nowadays he is with Mrs. Felicity Thompson in Devon, giving her son a lot of fun, they think the world of him.
The second time Gredington Calon Lan came into the stud was through Lacy Judie, who was by him, out of Criban Piccolo.
She had a colt foal here when she was still leased out, but we unfortunately lost Judie in foal by Langevoren Reuben the next year.

Waxwing Hillbilly 33237

We already knew Hillbilly before he came to this country but the first time we combined him with our Sable was more or less forced.
We had another stallion in mind for her that year, but that one was given a Dutch Stallion license, so was of no use to us after all, as we breed solely from Welsh Pony & Cob Society Registered and Licensed stock.
Then foot and mouth disease broke out and we had a lot of trouble reaching a stallion of our choice because of the transport restrictions.
 Then Hillbilly came into the picture again and we brought Sable to him as we could just get there.
 A year later this proved to be a blessing in disguise. The result of the combination Sable- Hillbilly was Powys Seren. She has been lightly shown but has twice won for us, she was Reserve Youngstock Champion at the International Show in Belgium and has given us three nice foals, all of them colts.
One by Langevoren Reuben and the others by Rhydyfelin Star Maker.
We liked Seren so much that we combined Lacy Sable with Hillbilly once more and the result now was a very nice palomino colt foal, Powys Sant, who developed well and is nowadays doing his stock getting work at the Haverford Stud in South West Wales.
 We saw his first crop of foals there in the summer of 2007 and we were very pleased with them,
he really did a good job.

Langevoren Reuben 55093

Langevoren Reuben is by Bengad Dogberry out of Sunwillow Monte Rosa by Coed Coch Planed.
 He is an impressive, well boned and very typey stallion. His straight Coed Coch Planed connection did it for us apart from his type.
We already had a Planed line running in our stock so we thought this could be a very nice addition.
 On his sires side there is Coed Coch Saled as a grandfather and that makes it all the more interesting. Those two family lines were in Lacy Sable as well!
So when Sjef de Kanter, Langevoren Stud, offered us Reuben for a year, we gladly accepted that.
Reuben gave us some very nice foals, two of which are still within easy reach, which is nice.
 Langevoren Reuben moved from here to Ed van Hoeks Richards Stud in 2007, and did his good work there too.

Rhydyfelin Star Maker is by Gartconnel Country Man, by Gartconnel Salad, out of Rhydyfelin Star Struck by Coed Coch Bleddyn.
Star Makers dam is therefore half sister to our Powys Sian, who is straight Coed Coch Bleddyn.
Both Gartconnel Country Man and Rhydyfelin Star Struck carry a Criban Golden Spray line we like very much.
Star Maker is a scopey pony with excellent movement.
He has got an extremely nice character and it seems he gives this on to his foals.
 When the Lewis Family offered us Star Maker for two seasons we were delighted!
 We covered all our mares with Star Maker in 2006 and 2007.
In 2007 we had four foals by Star Maker, three colt foals, two greys and one bay and one grey filly foal.
In 2008 we had two bay foals, a filly and a colt, a grey and a chestnut filly.
 Star Maker returned to his owners in the autumn of 2007, he certainly is one that is a pleasure to have around.

Heniarth Quinnell 60323

Quinnell is bred in the purple. He is by Gwynrhosyn Frenin, by Coed Coch Rhion and out of Sunwillow Quest by Coed Coch Salsbri out of Sunwillow Bernina.

What more can you wish for?
 We combined Heniarth Quinnell with two of our mares, Lacy Sable and her daughter Powys Sian, in 2003.
The results were a filly foal for Sian and a colt for Sable. Both good moving and scopey ponies for the future.
 Both of them grey, the colt, Powys Sprite was sold to Harold Zoet, Ysselvliedt Stud and the filly, Powys Sophie retained.
 

Sprite has done very well indeed, being approved and licensed at the National Stallion Show this year.
 His half sister Powys Sophie was very reluctantly sold locally, she is one you can show, ride and breed from!
We hope we can bring Powys Sprite’s and thus Quinnell’s bloodline into our Stud again when the time is there.

Coed Coch Bleddyn 18187

Bleddyn is van Coed Coch Barrog 10588, van Coed Coch Shon 3870 uit 35171 Coed Coch Bodlon, van Coed Coch Pryd.
Coed Coch Bleddyn gaf ons samen met Lacy Sable de grijze merrie Powys Sian.
 Toen we Lacy Sable voor het eerst zagen was ze drachtig van Coed Coch Bleddyn, wat haar alleen maar interessanter maakte voor ons omdat we Coed Coch Barrogs afstammelingen altijd al waardeerden.
Nu haar moeder helaas gestorven is, heeft Sian haar plaats overgenomen.

Blackhill Picalo 43102

Van Weston Dixie, van Twyford Tweed 5571, uit 59547 Blackhill Tina van Coed Coch Tegid 7973, (volle broer van Coed Coch Saled). Blackhill Picalo gaf ons, weer met Lacy Sable de bruine hengst Powys Shon 55974.
Hij won zijn klasse op de Hengstenkeuring van het Nederland Welsh Pony Stamboek op vierjarige leeftijd en is sindsdien erg succesvol, als vaderdier en als showpony aan de hand.
 Hij heeft een jaar op de Ysselvliedt Stud van de familie Zoet ter dekking gestaan, is twee jaar op de Ceulan Stud van Dr. Wynne Davies in Wales geweest en is nu op de Julmar Stud van de Devenney familie in Lancashire.
Hij heeft hen ook weer een heleboel succes gebracht.
 Hij heeft zilveren en bronzen medailles gewonnen in 2005, 2006, 2007 en 2008, won zelfs een zilveren en een bronzen medaille in hetzelfde weekend! Los hiervan heeft Picalo ons, met Lacy Serena in 2006 de grijze Powys Toy gegeven, zij is aangehouden.

Lacy Justyn 35792

Lacy Justyn, van Saltersford Justin, van Gredington Simwnt, uit Morwyn Nicandra (ook van Gredington Simwnt), is de vader van onze Lacy Serena.
Serena is een halfzuster van wijlen Lacy Sable, zelfde moeder Dryfe Selina, is daarom alleen al interessant voor ons. Zij is een charmante, royale goed bewegende merrie, die ons al een paar goede veulens heeft gegeven, in 2006 Powys Toy van Blackhill Picalo en in 2007 Powys Telstar van Rhydyfelin Star Maker.

Pendock Legend 26739

In het jaar 2000 hebben we Lacy Sable naar Pendock Legend in Suffolk gebracht om haar te laten dekken.
Het resulaat een jaar later, was een opvallend en goed bewegend hengstveulen, dat we later verkocht hebben. Jammer genoeg is hij ziek geworden bij zijn nieuwe eigenaren en nooit meer helemaal de oude geworden. Maar onlangs kwam Legend weer onze Stud binnen via zijn achterkleinzoon Islyn Capten, die we van onze vrienden van de Islyn Stud in Trawsfynydd in Noord Wales konden kopen. Capten is van Lacy Brigadier, uit Rhydyfelin Silver Leaf.
Brigadier is van Lacy Justyn uit de Kampioensmerrie Idyllic Pavlova, die al heel jong de Royal Welsh Show won. Pavlova’s vader is Pendock Legend. Wij verwachten veel van Capten!
 Hij is inmiddels met succes ook al wat geshowd, met ondermeer een Jeugdkampioenschap in Noord Duitsland als gevolg.

Rhydyfelin Story 46916

Kampioen Rhydyfelin Story is van de Kampioenshengst Bengad Rush, uit de Kampioensmerrie Rhydyfelin Silk van Brierwood Rocket 2.
We zagen Story al graag toen we hem als jonge pony zagen bij zijn eigenaar Richard Kokx, Pen Olwyn Stud, hier in Nederland. Story’s afstamming is ook interessant voor ons, dus in 2001 hebben we Story onze Lacy Fleur laten dekken.
 Het resultaat was de merrie Powys Ffiona en Story bewees daarmee weer eens zijn fokkwaliteiten. Ffiona is een royale, goed bewegende vosmerrie met blonde staart en manen, die in 2008 haar derde veulen, een merrie, heeft gebracht van Rhydyfelin Star Maker.
Dit veulen heet Powys Fanwy en is net als haar zuster van vorig jaar een prima beweger en wordt ook aangehouden.

Rhydyfelin Silk Rocket 55432

Rhydyfelin Silk Rocket is van de meervoudig Kampioen Blackhill Picalo uit de Kampioensmerrie Rhydyfelin Silk, die van Brierwood Rocket 2 is.
Rocket is daarmee halfbroer van Powys Shon en Rhydyfelin Story.
We hebben Rocket voor het eerst gezien op de Lacy Stud toen hij er op bezoek was met zijn moeder.
Hij was een erg goed en brutaal veulen en wij vonden hem prachtig.
Dus toen we twee jaar later hoorden dat hij een periode in Nederland zou zijn, hebben we besoten om Lacy Sable door hem te laten dekken.
Dat is toen niet gebeurd omdat Rocket uiteindelijk een Nederlandse deklicentie kreeg, waardoor hij voor ons niet te gebruiken was.
 Toen we later de gelegenheid hadden om hem een jaar bij ons te hebben, heeft hij alsnog een Britse licentie gekregen.
We hebben twee goede veulens van hem gekregen, Powys Socks en Powys Swsi en hebben hem met enig succes geshowd, hij deed het tamelijk goed in een goede en grote rubriek op de Internationale Show in Aken, Duitsland.
Zijn dochter Powys Swsi is nu een jonge fokmerrie op de Richards Stud.

Gredington Calon Lan 27554

Gredington Calon Lan kwam onze Stud binnen doordat Lacy Fleur drachtig van hem was toen we haar op Colin Tibbey’s Lacy Stud kochten.
 Het grijze hengstveulen dat de volgende lente geboren werd, Powys Jack Flash, verkochten we terug aan Colin, die hem doorverkocht aan Mandy Burchell Small die hem onder het zadel bracht.
Hij is inmiddels onder het zadel uitgebracht in leading rein rubrieken, in springwedstrijden, in gemengde pony rubrieken en hij is er verschrikkleijk goed in.
Hij werd uitgezet voor de Horse of the Year Show en is een echte veelzijdige pony met een prachtig karakter.
Nu woont hij bij mrs. Felicity Thompson in Devon en haar zoon heeft veel plezier met hem, zij dragen hem op handen.
De tweede keer dat Gredington Calon Lan onze Stud binnenkwam was met Lacy Judie, die ook van hem was uit Criban Picolo.
 Ze kreeg hier een hengstveulen van Friars Superman, toen ze nog geleased was, maar wij verloren haar, drachtig, jammer genoeg het jaar daarna.

Waxwing Hillbilly 33237

Wij kenden Waxwing Hillbilly al voordat hij naar ons land kwam, maar de eerste keer dat wij hem met Lacy Sable gebruikten was dat min of meer gedwongen.
We hadden eigenlijk een andere hengst voor haar in gedachten, maar omdat wij alleen fokken met Brits geregistreerd materiaal en deze hengst een Nederlandse licentie had konden we hem toen niet gebruiken.
 Dit was tijdens de mond- en klauwzeer epidemie en we kregen door de transportbeperkingen een hoop problemen om een hengst te bereiken.
Toen kwam Hillbilly weer in beeld, ook omdat we hem met een grote omweg nèt konden bereiken.
Dit bleek een jaar later een geluk bij een ongeluk.
Het resulaat van deze Sable-Hilbilly combinatie was Powys Seren.
Ze is drie keer geshowd en won twee keer voor ons, werd Reserve Jeugdkampioen op de Internationale Show in België en heeft ons intussen drie goede veulens gegeven, allemaal hengstjes. Een is van Langevoren Reuben en de twee anderen van Rhydyfelin Star Maker, twee ervan zijn in opfok.
We vonden Seren als resultaat zo goed dat we Sable nog eens met Hillbilly hebben gecombineerd en het resultaat was nu de palomino hengst Powys Sant, die zich heel goed ontwikkeld heeft en inmiddels voor een tweede jaar op de Haverford Stud zijn werk als dekhengst doet.
We zagen zijn eerste veulens in de zomer van 2007 en die zagen er goed uit, hij doet zijn werk erg goed!

Langevoren Reuben 55093

Langevoren Reuben is van Bengad Dogberry en uit Sunwillow Monte Rosa, van Coed Coch Planed.
Hij is een indrukwekkende, typische hengst met veel bot. Zijn rechtstreekse Coed Coch Planed afstamming deed het voor ons, los van zijn type.
Er liep al een stevige Planed lijn in onze pony’s en dus hij kon een welkome aanvulling zijn.
Aan Reubens vaderkant zit via Bengad Cockscombe, Coed Coch Saled als grootvader en dat maakte het nog interessanter.
Deze twee familielijnen zaten ook in Sable! Dus toen Sjef de Kanter ons Reuben voor een jaar aanbood hebben we dat meteen aangenomen.
Reuben heeft ons mooie veulens gegeven, waarvan er twee nog binnen handbereik zijn.
Langevoren Reuben vertrok van hier naar Ed van Hoek’s Richards Stud, om daar ook zijn goede werk te gaan doen.

Rhydyfelin Star Maker 61609

Rhydyfelin Star Maker is van Gartconnel Country Man, van Gartconnel Salad, uit Rhydyfelin Star Struck van Coed Coch Bleddyn. Star Maker’s moeder is daarmee een halfzus van onze Powys Sian die ook rechtstreeks van Coed Coch Bleddyn is.
Zowel Gartconnel Country Man als Rhydyfelin Star Struck voert een lijn Criban Golden Spray bloed, waar wij erg van houden.
Star Maker is een royaal gebouwde pony met prima gangen.
Hij heeft een apart vriendelijk karakter en dit lijkt hij aan zijn veulens door te geven.
We hebben in 2006 en 2007 al onze merries met Star Maker gedekt.
 In 2007 heeft Lacy Fleur haar veulen verloren, maar we hadden toch vier veulens van Star Maker, drie hengstjes, een bruin en twee grijze en een grijs merrieveulen, dat we hebben aangehouden.
In 2008 kregen we twee bruine veulens, een hengstje en een merrieveullen and een grijs en een vos merrieveulen.
Star Maker is nu jammer genoeg weer terug bij zijn eigenaren, het was een plezier om hem op stal te hebben.

Heniarth Quinnell 60323

Heniarth Quinnell is geweldig gefokt.
Hij is van de Coed Coch Rhion zoon Gwyn Rhosyn Frenin uit Sunwillow Quest, die van Coed Coch Salsbri uit Sunwillow Bernina is.
Wat wil je nog meer?
Wij hebben Heniart Quinnell drie jaar geleden met twee van onze merries gecombineerd, Lacy Sable en haar dochter Powys Sian.
Resultaat was een merrieveulen voor Sian en een hengstje voor Sable.
Allebei goed gebouwde pony’s met goede bewegingen, allebei grijs.
Het hengstje Powys Sprite is verkocht aan Harold en Yvette Zoet, Ysselvliedt Stud en het merrieveulen Powys Sophie is aangehouden. .

Powys Sprite is inmiddels goedgekeurd en wordt ingezet in de fokkerij.
Zijn halfzus Powys Sophie hebben we in de buurt verkocht, zij is er een die je kunt showen, rijden of ermee fokken. We hopen Powys Sprite’s en dus Heniarth Quinnell’s bloed op een later tijdstip weer in onze fokkerij in te kunnen brengen
