A number of Stallions has had an influence on the Powys Stud stock:
|
Powys Sant |
|
The 2009 season sees Powys Sant in the fatherrole for our 2010 foals
out of 3 of our mares. Sant again is out of Lacy Sable but by
Waxwing Hillbilly. Sant has been doing stud duties for 2 seasons at
the Haverford Stud in South West Wales.
In our small stud you may also find his full sister Powys Seren, who
was already very successful in the showring. |
 |
|
IJsselvliedts Super Ted
|
|
 |
For the 2008 season we used IJsselvliedts Super Ted
by Powys Shon out of IJsselvliedts Shirley by Baledon Jerimiah, to father our foals. Sadly Super Ted died
unexpectedly in the 2008 winter season in Wales, he will be sadly missed.

Heniarth Quinnell |
|
 |
Quinnell is bred in the purple. He is by Gwynrhosyn Frenin, by Coed Coch Rhion
and out of Sunwillow Quest by Coed Coch Salsbri out of Sunwillow Bernina.
What
more can you wish for?
We combined Heniarth Quinnell with two of our mares, Lacy
Sable and her daughter Powys Sian, in 2004.
The results were a filly foal for
Sian and a colt for Sable. Both grey, good moving and scopey ponies. The colt
foal was Powys Sprite, see below.
|
|
Powys Sprite
has done very well indeed, being
approved and licensed at the National Stallion Show this year.
Sprite is now on lease to our friends, John and Julie Devenney at
the Julmar Stud in Lancashire, Great Britain.
We hope we can bring Powys Sprite’s and thus Quinnell’s bloodline into our Stud again when the time is there.

Rhydyfelin Silk Rocket
|
|
 |
Rhydyfelin Silk Rocket is
by Champion Blackhill Picalo out of Champion
Rhydyfelin Silk by Brierwood Rocket 2. Silk
Rocket is half brother to Powys Shon. When we had the opportunity to have him at our stud for a year,
we got some nice foals by him and showed him lightly.
He did rather well in a very good and big class at the
International Show in Aachen, Germany. His daughter Powys Swsi is a
brood mare at the Richards Stud now. |
|
Rhydyfelin Star Maker |
|
Rhydyfelin Star Maker is by Gartconnel Country Man, by Gartconnel Salad, out of
Rhydyfelin Star Struck by Coed Coch Bleddyn.
Star Makers dam is therefore half
sister to our Powys Sian, who is straight Coed Coch Bleddyn. We retained a
colt and filly by Star Maker.

Langevoren Reuben
|
|
Langevoren Reuben is by Bengad Dogberry out of Sunwillow Monte Rosa by Coed Coch
Planed.
He is an impressive, well boned and very typey stallion. His straight
Coed Coch Planed connection did it for us apart from his type. His grand sire is
Coed Coch Saled.
Those two family lines were in Lacy Sable as
well!
Reuben gave us some very nice foals. |
 |
|
Waxwing Hillbilly
|
|
 |
We had our Lacy Sable
covered by Waxwing Hillbilly. The result of this combination was Powys Seren. She
has been lightly shown and won for us twice. She was Reserve Youngstock
Champion at the International Show in Belgium.
We liked Seren so much that we combined Lacy Sable with Hillbilly once more and
the result now was a very nice palomino colt foal, Powys Sant.
|
|
Rhydyfelin Story |
|
Rhydyfelin Story is by Bengad Rush, out of Rhydyfelin
Silk.
In 2001 we had Lacy Fleur among
others covered by him. One result was the chestnut Powys Ffiona.
Ffiona is a scopey, good moving chestnut mare
now. |
 |
|
Pendock Legend
|
|
In the year 2000 we brought Lacy Sable to Pendock Legend at his home in Suffolk
to have her covered.
Pendock Legend
entered our Stud again through his great grandson Islyn Capten, who we acquired
in 2007
from our good friends at the Islyn Stud in Trawsfynydd, North Wales.
Capten is
out of Rhydyfelin Silver Leaf by Lacy Brigadier, who is out of the Champion mare
Idyllic Pavlova by Pendock Legend. |
 |
|
Lacy Justyn |
|
 |
Lacy Justyn, by Saltersford Justin, by Gredington Simwnt, out of Morwyn Nicandra
by Gredington Simwnt too, is our Lacy Serena’s sire. Serena is half-sister to
the late Lacy Sable. She is a scopey good moving mare. I |
|
Blackhill Picalo |
|
 |
By Weston Dixie, by Twyford
Tweed out of Blackhill Tina by Coed Coch
Tegid, (full brother to Coed Coch Saled).
Blackhill Picalo gave us, again
with Lacy Sable Powys Shon. Shon won his Class at The Dutch National
Stallion Grading Show as a four year old and is since very succesful as a sire
and as a showpony in hand. He is now at the Devenney family’s Julmar Stud in Lancashire,
Great Britain. He won silver and bronze medals in 2005, 2006, 2007,
2008 and 2009. He even once won a
silver and a bronze medal at the same weekend!
|
Coed Coch
Bleddyn |
|
By Coed Coch Barrog, by Coed Coch Shon out of Coed Coch Bodlon
by Coed Coch Pryd.
Coed Coch Bleddyn gave us together with Lacy Sable the
grey filly Powys Sian.
With her dam sadly gone, Sian has taken over from her in our
Stud now. |
